It’s the day before the day before Christmas. Chances are you’re about to go on a road trip to see some family.

Over the last couple of years, my wife and I have done two road trips from Virginia to California and back again. Not only is this a lot of miles, it’s also a lot of music. When you’re driving this far you have to change radio stations quite often, as the one you’re listening to goes out of range.

Through all this station-changing, we’ve developed a pretty good CCMdar. What’s a CCMdar? It’s a radar located where your ear connects to the brain, that helps you tell if it’s a Christian radio station while scanning through stations. In fact, we’ve honed our CCMdar so well that it only takes 2.71 seconds for us to identify if it’s a Christian radio station.

According to a year-end report from Radio & Records, Matthew West's "You Are Everything" was the most played song on Christian radio in 2008. This is the second song from the Dove Award-winning artist to earn "Song of the Year" status, following his hit "More" from 2003. The single debuted in October 2007 and stayed on the charts for more than 11 months. "I am thankful to be singing again after recovering from what I thought could be career-ending vocal surgery last year," says West. "'You Are Everything' was the first song I recorded in the studio after my recovery. So, to see the way it has connected with listeners through the radio just confirms to me there is a reason for everything that happens in this life. I sing with purpose now, and a renewed passion for connecting to the hearts of people through my music.
