Event Church?

Shaun Groves has a great post on his blog called "DISMANTLING EVENT CHURCH". It is very similar to Mark Driscoll's comments here (part 1) and here (part 2).

**Editor's Note**: I really appreciate Mark's comments, but I don't think it is completely generous in terms of the black and white picture that he paints between "Seeker" and "Missional". I think there is a wide diversity of churches that blend these values in different ways leaning towards one side or another. I know that he is trying to paint a general picture, but I just wish I would have heard him speak of this distinction a bit since I'm sure that he is aware of it.

We are really struggling with this issue right now. We recently moved and are struggling with finding a new church. We were attending a Reformed Church that was pretty traditional. We were initially drawn to a church in EC that describes itself as "for people who have given up on church, but haven't given up on God." It is certainly a "cool" church and preaches love and forgiveness for all, which we love. What I haven't heard so far is preaching about sin and repentance. They are very good at the evangelism part, but not so good at the discipleship thing. We are trying to find a church that is not only seeker sensitive and contemporary, but also is grounded in rock solid Biblical foundations.
