24: Season 1

***Warning! Spoilers to follow - Don't read if you haven't seen season one of "24" and plan to watch it.***

Ok, so Kim and I just finished watching season 1 of "24" on DVD. We have not gotten caught up in the 24 hype until recently when we starting subscribing to it on our Netflix and watching 2-3 episodes a night before bed. BTW - not a great way to calm yourself down to go to bed and not have wack dreams about people trying to kill you...

Anyway, I love the show now and can totally see what all the hype was for. Brilliant writing and the acting is excellent. We will certainly be watching all the next few seasons in succession.

In light of these compliments of the show I do have one main complaint:

Nina being the bad girl at the end - totally unbelievable. I think the producers and writers were trying a bit to hard here to be shocking. I get why they did this, but at what expense? I kind of rolled my eyes a bit when she broke out the German-speak to reveal her true identity. Again, yes, it was shocking, we all were shocked, but I think the show lost a bit of credibility for me in the process.

I did like how his wife died at the end. That last sentence sounded horrible, but you know what I mean. I did not see that one coming either and it was much more believable than Nina being the other mole. That fact that it did not have a happy ending did make me want to tear into season two as soon as possible.

All you 24 freaks... what is your take?

Nina's "coming out" as a bad girl is integral for season two. Maybe that will make it more palatable for you to accept that she was such a suprise in the end of season one.

I mean come on. There are double agents in countries all around the world. The reason they don't get found out is because they are so good at blending in. I'm not sure it's that unrealistic that she ending up being the mole.

Your just mad because you were so extremely duped by the writers.

dude, don't get me started on 24. I am SO in love with Jack Bauer! ok, not really...well maybe a little. You know me and my cheeseball self, I loved the ending and was completely shocked. I just finished season 4. I have to take it in moderation because I also have BAD dreams, because I usually end up watching several episodes at a time and usually before bed also. I had a dream that I was housesitting and the maid was out to kill me, and I was trying to get away and call for Jack Bauer but my cell phone didn't work. It was scary. I'm glad you are on the 24 train.

My wife and I got on the 24 train last Christmas. We borrowed the first 4 seasons on DVD from my dad. The day after Christmas, we watched the first half of season 1. Yep, 12 shows in one day. We finished season one in less than a week, "limiting" ourselves to 2 or 3 episodes a night. We almost finished all 4 seasons in time for season 5 to start. We ended up having to tape the first few weeks and then catch up.

If it weren't for the fact that I don't want the season to be spoiled, I'd rather wait until the season was over and came out on DVD. It's hard waiting each week when you're used to the Bauer Buffet.
