Jars of Clay are not fans of the war in Iraq. You can read about it
here.
Does anyone really care what celebrities think of politics? I know I don't. I guess if people can play big rock guitars that equates to omniscience on all other topics... Just to be clear, I don't have anything against the guys in Jars. From what I know they are great guys, but I just think we shouldn't rush to throw a mic and tape recorder in someone's face just because they are "famous".

kinda funny that you made that comment from your blog -- ie, you're saying, "if you're a musician, please don't publicly announce your displeasure with the war, or I will publicly go to my blog and tell you that no one cares about your opinion."
I'm not asking Dan to not state his opinion. Dan H from Jars has every right to say whatever he wants to about the war. I am only wondering why as a culture we are so excited to hear about topics from people that probably don't know anything about those topics. I could be wrong here. Maybe the guys in Jars have done tons of research and have taken many trips to Iraq and had many sit down conversations with people in power concerning the war. If that is the case, then I stand corrected. We should listen to what they have to say. I assume though that this is not that case. My comment isn't even really about Dan and his band, but about our culture. My only point is a sociological one. Why is it that we care so much (ie, news stories) what celebrities say on any topic and especially that war in Iraq?
...and why do we care what non-famous bloggers have to say about less important things (eg, The Office, John Mayer, what guitars they use, what they're reading, car problems)?
Well, obviously you care since you keep coming around my blog and leaving wack jack comments.
Take that!
