"Thousands of people have written to tell me that I am wrong not to believe in God. The most hostile of these communications have come from Christians. This is ironic, as Christians generally imagine that no faith imparts the virtues of love and forgiveness more effectively than their own. The truth is that many who claim to be transformed by Christ’s love are deeply, even murderously, intolerant of criticism."From, Letters to a Christian Nation, by Sam Harris.
For those of you who don't know, Sam is a very outspoken atheist who has been receiving a lot of media attention lately. I don't doubt that the above quote is true.

"murderously"? Overstatements are key to effective deceptions.
Hate = murder for Jesus' ethics, thus, he might be right on?!? Who knows...
Yeah, I feel you Zach. On the other hand with all the crazy anti-Christian, anti-American banter going around, I don't think we should let people get off with such irresponsible language. While we can all learn to be a bit more gracious and a little slower to speak and quicker to listen, I doubt that many Christians have completely rejected Christ's command to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. If there are individuals who hate, then maybe we should blame individuals and not all Christians.
