My buddy Doug recently posted on some Harry Potter commentary articles in light of all the hype recently. How should we think about this phenomenon in our culture? I think two of the best resources I have read have come from Jerram Barrs of Covenant Theological Seminary and Denis Haack of Ransom Fellowship. You can find them below:
Harry Potter and His Critics by Jerram Barrs
and
The Scandal of Harry Potter by Denis Haack

Aren't you supposed to be listening to a seminary lecture right now?
Uh, your comment is slightly self-refuting... Do I need to explain how this works?
Let me explain... When we are praying as a family we encourage our children to close their eyes in order to help them avoid distraction. We do this as well. While praying, if I hear one of my children pick-up and start playing with a toy, I briefly stop praying in order to correct the child. Your blogging during class is an example of this principle in another context.
So how does that apply to your reading blogs in class?
To clarify my illustration... In the same way as my children disrupt me from that which is right and good (my prayer), their disruption forces me to a greater right and good, namely their correction.
You are straight wack.
