Give Attention To Our Attention

I have never had a good attention span. When I was a kid my Grandma thought I needed to be medicated. Some still do to this day. :) In light of that I found this quote from Al Mohler enlightening:
People who cannot maintain mental attention cannot know the intimacy of prayer, and God does not maintain a Facebook page. Our ability to focus attention is not just about the mind, for it is also a reflection of the soul. Our Christian discipleship demands that we give attention to our attention.
-Al Mohler

Z-
Challenging quote. I must say that this is an area in my life in need of sanctification. I get loving God with my heart and soul...but loving God with my whole mind? That will require something of me and I don't know if have the discipline to focus my attention. I get to thinking about whether or not the Lakers and the Celtics will meet in the finals and Lebron James and how Troy Tuluwitzki is on the IR and how the Rockies pictching is giving up too many runs and my Sony Vaio is running slowly but sometimes I eat bagels in the morning except when I have Fruity Pebbles but that upsets my stomach and gives me well you know the gas prices keep rising and my salary does not but I love serving the Lord in the Church where the hallway going back to the children's wing needs to painted like the house accross the street where my neighbor lives. Huh? Did you say something?

OK, so I'm a brain guy. I work with people who have attention problems caused by chemicals in their brains not working right, whether due to neurodevelopmental conditions, injury, or whatever. Is Mohler saying that people with ADHD can't be as connected with God as those not plagued with those difficulties? Interestingly, those with ADHD also appear to be less prone to following organized religion.
