Song of the Day - John Scofield - Hottentot

Today's song of the day is from jazz guitar giant John Scofield and his now classic record, A Go Go. Wait! Don't leave yet if you are not a jazz fan. This is not "jazz" in the purest sense, but more funk with some jazz influences.

This is serious funkaliciousness.

My favorite song from the record is called, Hottentot. Listen to the clip below and if you like it, know that the whole record is like that. Seriously deep grooves, and John Scofield's signature tone. He plays great lines and more than that, on this whole record he is accompanied by jazz trio, Medeski, Martin and Wood as his rhythm section. Incidentally, since this record was released they have collaborated on a follow-up record of sorts in a similar vein called, Out Louder.

BTW - Speaking of funkaliciousness... If you have not heard John Scofield's duet with John Mayer doing Ray Charles' classic, "I Don't Need No Doctor", repent, and then get two copies. It's that good.
