I've loved Nick Drake's hauntingly beautiful work since a friend introduced me to it in the early '90s. Pink Moon is his most intense album-- he really bares his soul on it. It's also a songwriting masterpiece.

In that light, the fact that it can now be bought on-line for $2.99... well, part of me want to celebrate, and part of me wants to cry. I'm very glad that incredible music, such as this, is so easily, readily available to so many people. On the other hand, the fact that such delicate, amazing artistry and emotion can be bought for $2.99 on a computer... I can't help but have slightly mixed feelings about it.

Maybe I'm just "old-school," and missing the time when most people when into actual physical stores and bought tangible music products, like records or CDs. I made some great friendships buying music in stores in those days. I also just enjoy having a complete product to enjoy-- CD, lyrics, liner notes, etc. That concept seems to be largely disappearing these days. I suppose I should just look at it positively and rejoice that so many people now have greater access to good music, such as Nick Drake's. All four of his albums are great and very much worth having, whatever the format!

Sorry, I meant "went into actual physical stores," not "when into," in the last part there! :-)
