I found this post from Timmy Brister to be very helpful in terms of personal sanctification. Legal vs. Evangelical Obedience: Nine Differences. He highlights 9 points from Samuel Bolton. They are:

1. Slavish spirit vs. Childlike spirit

2. Burdensome vs. Delight

3. Conviction of conscience vs. Necessity of nature

4. Satisfaction in duty vs. Satisfaction in Christ

5. Shell vs. Substance

6. Performance as self-righteousness vs. Performance as Christ’s righteousness

7. Formality vs. Fervency

8. Duty only when pressured vs. Duty continually with happiness

9. Duty with reluctance vs. Duty with delight

Click here to read these nine points fleshed out a bit more.
