The Importance and Magnificence of Marriage

I wish that more churches openly and consistently taught this Biblical, God-centered view of marriage. So many churches exalt marriage, but they seem to do so as if marriage is an end, in and of itself. Paul explicitly teaches that marriage is to be a picture of something infinitely greater-- the relationship of Christ to His church.

Moreover, Scripture also teaches that marriage is for life but that it is *only* for this life. None of us will be married to human spouses in eternity. Why don't more churches teach consistently on this fact? Have they elevated marriage to an unBiblical, idolatrous level, similarly to how the medieval church elevated celibate Christians above those who chose to marry (giving married Christians, at that time, a kind of "second-class Christian" status)? Why is it so hard for many churches to find, and to teach, the actual Biblical balance on the issue of marriage that clearly exists in Scripture? It must be because churches are made up of sinners, like me... but it still can be frustrating.
