I've heard about this movie, via my "friendship" on Facebook with James & Athena Pond who's Transitions International, Inc. in Portland, OR provides post-rescue training and living resources to trafficking victims in Cambodia, Portland, and elsewhere. I can't watch it. I can hardly bear to think about it. It evokes a physical reaction in me like it did you, Zach. Thanks for posting the video, though. I pray this receives as much attention as adoption and abortion and that the Lord mobilizes the more people in the church, like the Ponds, March Bell, and others like them, to intercede.
Correction - the organization I mentioned is called Transitions Global, Inc.
It's definitely hard to even *think* about this sort of evil, much less *watch* something about it. However, I find that the truth of God's absolute sovereignty over, and in, all situations gives me the strength, discernment, and hope that I need to *very carefully* expose myself to such evil-- and then *fight* it.
I really, really wish that this film would come to Albuquerque. If 1,000 people from ABQ would go to http://www.callandresponse.com/ and request that the film would be brought here (or to any other city where people live and wish for it to be seen), the filmmakers have said that it *will* come here. If you live in Albuquerque, *please* go to the website and request that it be brought here!
There is a great book on slaveries such as these, it is called "Not For Sale" by David Batstone. They also turned it into a filmed documentary with the same title. It is a huge problem and people are truly working for change. There was also a movie done on lifetime about it that was about four hours long, it was pretty brutal, but very true to how it works called "Human Trafficking."
