Last-minute Bush abortion ruling causes furor

"A last-minute Bush administration plan to grant sweeping new protections to health care providers who oppose abortion and other procedures on religious or moral grounds has provoked a torrent of objections, including a strenuous protest from the government agency that enforces job-discrimination laws.

The proposed rule would prohibit recipients of federal money from discriminating against doctors, nurses and other health care workers who refuse to perform or to assist in the performance of abortions or sterilization procedures because of their "religious beliefs or moral convictions."

But Bush didn't do anything about abortion, which is why we were allowed to vote for Obama.

This is all so confusing.

And besides, we were assured that Obama hates abortion just as much as we do, so this story must be incorrect to suggest that Obama will reverse these things when he takes office.

These types of story make my blood pressure elevate. My question to those who would oppose Bush's plan is always the same. Why would you want to force those who have opposing convictions to perform something against their will? There are plenty of people willing to help you, why not go to one of them?

If it were me.... I wouldn't WANT somebody to perform any kind of procedure on me if I knew they were against the very idea of it.
