Six years ago today our second child and first son Daniel died. He was three years old. God used Daniel’s unrelenting suffering and short life for good in our family in so many grace-filled ways. It is largely through Daniel that God has deepened our understanding of His adoptive love for us and led us to add two more boys to our family through adoption.Though my heart still aches when I think of Daniel, his three years of suffering, and his absence from our family, I’m deeply thankful to God for the gift that Daniel was and continues to be. So, today our family is remembering Daniel and God’s gift of him to us for three deeply treasured years.
The picture above, which I took four days before Daniel’s death, was our attempt to testify to the glory and sufficiency of the gospel in our suffering. The good news of the Gospel was our hope then and it continues to be our hope now as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies (Romans 8:23).

Having served with them at our church and watching them go through all this, while a picture can say a thousand words, their lives speak volumes about the graciousness, the mercy, the compassion, the love and kindness of a God Who lovingly cares for His own. We follow the Cruver's as the follow Christ.
Zach,
This afternoon my wife and I attended the memorial service for the son of one of our friends and fellow church members. Little Issac only lived 4 minutes. During the time his mother carried him, she and her husband prayed that Issac would impact the world for Christ. Even when they found out that he had multiple birth problems they continued to pray the same prayer. I can say after attending the memorial service that God did use this little, barely born, child to impact the world for Christ. Along with the parents, we celebrated his life and his death knowing that God is sovereign and His will is perfect.
Thank you for sharing your story as well. God bless you and your family.
