Dude, that rocked.
What is your thesis about jazz and ecclesiology?

My thesis is that the jazz combo is a very useful metaphor for healthy ecclesiology. It turned out pretty well I think. I did teaching and explaining throughout our performance.

Brilliant!

Sound quality came out great.

The audio turned out well because I recorded the audio and then added it to the video. I think it turned out well too!

That was very enjoyable. The other versions I've heard are Miles 1963 at the Monterrey Jazz Fest and Bill Evans 1972 Paris ORTF. Your trio stood its ground well among those greats! Thanks for posting ...

BTW, for me jazz well represents the interplay between order and spontaneity, and man's creativity as an analogy of God's. Every time I hear it I hear the cosmos being recreated.

Very tasty playing, Zach! I love seeing this side of your musicianship! Hey, I've heard that Redeemer Pres. in New York has "jazz worship" at their evening services-- I wonder, could you ever see doing something like that for a DSC service? I would love it, but then, I'm a jazz fan! :-) Oh, and I know this is a crazy hour to be up, but I'm on a marathon read-through of Jeremiah! Now, off to bed...

Christopher, they do have a Jazz service and it is pretty great. They also invite guest artists to come in quite often. Here is a notice I got just the other day...

"Redeemer Music presents…

The date is getting closer, so make sure it is on your calendar!

Tuesday, February 3, 2008, 7:30pm
An Evening with John Patitucci, Jon Cowherd and Rogerio Boccato:
Songs and Spirituals

Where: The Marjorie S. Deane Little Theatre at the West Side YMCA
5 West 63rd Street at Central Park West

This exciting jazz trio will present an evening of eclectic jazz music that will give you a great visitor friendly opportunity to bring friends from inside and outside Redeemer. Tickets are only $10 online and $15 cash at the door and seating is limited, so make your reservations NOW!"

Amber and I are supposed to go have dinner with Tom (music director/Jazz guru) sometime in the next month or so... You want me to drop your name along???

Also, they do a song-writer workshop as well. Maybe they could do a double-dip kind of thing with a concert and a seminar on songwriting... Just a thought.
