Obama to Rescind Bush Abortion Rule

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration is moving to rescind a federal rule that reinforced protections for medical providers who refuse to perform abortions and other procedures on moral grounds.

A Health and Human Services official said Friday the administration will publish an official notice of its intentions early next week, and open a 30-day comment period for advocates, medical groups and the public. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the notice has not been finalized.

The Bush administration instituted the rule in its last days. It has already been challenged in court. Abortion opponents hailed the Bush regulation, but abortion rights advocates say it could reduce access to other services, such as birth control.

This is sure to reduce the number of abortions... How could anyone buy that line of thinking?

Where will this administration go next?

Amazing, how our new President proclaimed at the National Prayer Breakfast that no "god" condones the killing of innocent life, yet this same President is itching to overturn even tiny advances made in the fight against the abortion practice.

John C or Amy will be by any minute to explain how this really doesn't matter and that Obama really wants to reduce abortions but even if not at least he gives really awesome speeches about hope.

I think we are getting what we paid for. Listening to prophetic voices is not his strong point. I am convinced that he will be known as the president who doesn't listen because he just does what he wants anyway sans regard to pretty much common sense - then says the opposite during speeches.

He just seems like a guy who doesn't listen anyway.
