Porn In The New Administration

Al Mohler:

The pornography industry has a big stake in defending itself against legal challenges and restrictive laws, and it has been stunningly successful in doing so. One of the leading legal defenders of pornography has been David Ogden, a lawyer who can only be described as a First Amendment extremist, who has even argued against laws against child pornography.

President Barack Obama has nominated David Ogden as Deputy Attorney General of the United States. This nomination is both ominous and dangerous. Given David Ogden's high visibility in defense of pornography, this nomination sends a clear and unmistakable message. The pornography business will have a friend in high office in the Department of Justice.

Great.

Just to tell what appears to be all sides of the story - even though this article maintains that certain claims are "mostly true" - it certainly appears to tell another side of the story and put things in context. Read this.

One quote to look at from a former Bush Administration Official:

"Reginald Brown, a former Bush Administration official and current law partner of Ogden, said Ogden's work for adult businesses has been vastly overplayed."He took some positions on behalf of interest groups that obviously the government disagreed with," Brown said. "It was by no means a majority of his practice. The bulk of his practice over the last eight years has been representing various companies — energy companies, pharmaceuticals and even some government agencies. I would describe it as a wide-ranging commercial litigation practice." As for the work for Playboy, Penthouse and other distributors of adult videos, Brown said. "The extent of that work is greatly exaggerated and is taken out of context. It's borderline libelous to suggest that David has a huge practice representing the pornography industry. That's not to say he didn't work on the cases cited."

well Ogden did work on the cases cited and that's enough for me to come to the same conclusions as Al.

Ya, I guess you're right. No one can ever change or maybe did things in their past that don't represent them well if you single out that one thing among one hundred things they've done in their career. Long ago I played music in bars and for rowdy drunken college frat parties. I must be a heathen. I guess that means my 25 years following in music ministry means nothing now.

lol. Keep up the good fight, John C.

You bought into him so hard, so completely, that he could carry a severed baby's head to the state of the union address and you'd defend him. lmao.
