Botti and Mayer did this last night on Leno - did you hear? John makes for a mighty fine jazz singer. Botti didn't sound great on Leno's show. He intonation was kinda off. It feels a little pitchy here too. He's a tremendous player however but has really sold out to the lush ballad formula.
I have to ask these days with instrumentalists and jazz singers that make it big (Diane Krall for example) and especially thinking of the Susan Boyle from the England's Got Talent Show - how popular would these guys and gals be if they weren't so attractive? I mean, there are a LOT of great trumpet players out there that can do what Botti has done.
