A Couple Stories From Yesterday

Had a great travel day. Our flight was delayed an hour out of ABQ, but that was not big deal. All four kids did GREAT on the plane. They only started to lose their minds on the last 30 mins or so of our drive to my sister's house, but this was after an all day travel adventure.

After we landed in Omaha, we drove to my 88-year-old Grandma's house for dinner. She had not met my black daughter Mya yet, but knew that we had adopted. First thing she said was, "She's not quite the same color as the other three, is she?!?" My Grandma is famous for comments throughout the years that are... uh... questionable, but we just smiled and said, "Yep!" It was a good time for dinner and Grandma quickly embraced her newest great grand daughter Mya.

You know you live in the desert when...

We were driving down the road to my Grandma's house and my 4-year-old daughter looks at the windshield and says, "Daddy, is it starting to rain?"

"Uh, no honey, those are bugs splattered on the windshield"

That is one of the things I will certainly miss about driving in the southwest. No bugs are a blessing.
