Ten Reasons To NOT Ask Jesus Into Your Heart

Todd Friel gives ten reasons why the phrase, "Just ask Jesus into your heart" is probably not a wise one for evangelism. I would encourage you to go over and read his reasons.

Zach,

I won't clog up the meta on the post that you referenced due to it being 9 months old, but I found it interesting that Todd's words received the same type of condemnation there from professing Christians as it always does.

It is truly amazing how many professing Christians still proclaim their own goodness instead of relying on Christ alone.

The author writes, "The Bible says that a person who is soundly saved puts his hand to the plow and does not look back because he is fit for service. In other words, a true convert cannot backslide.

here is a struggle many people (including Christians!) have with Christianity. The assumption that I will never again sin (or backslide). I don't believe never backsliding is possible, but rather that Christ continues to sanctify us and draw us into a right, redemptive relationship with him.

Jason,

I agree. I wished he would have defined what he meant by "backsliding". I felt as though this was a downside to his piece, but the upside was strong enough to post it. I'm sure if he defined his terms better there would be no disagreement.
