Whereas we often ask "Why?" people in the Bible more often asked "How long?" Their tendency was not to demand that God give an explanation for the origin for evil but rather to plead with God to do something to bring about an end to evil. And that, we shall see, is exactly what God has promised to do.- Dr. Christopher Wright, The God I Don't Understand, p. 27

When I look at the whole counsel of God's word, I see both "Why" and "How long?" Why do the wicked prosper, why is this happening to me/us, and how long will it last?
It is not wrong to ask any of those questions, necessarily-- it is a matter of the spirit *behind* the question(s). Is it one of crying out to God and engaging with Him, or one of accusing Him of injustice?
