Russia Formally Suspends All US Adoptions

This is absolutely tragic and in my uninformed opinion seems like a gross overreaction.  Praying that they will crack down on Russian agencies and Russian orphanages that provide horrible care but that they will soon reopen to adoption for American families.  Let's remember that He is the Father to the Fatherless.

The New York Times:
Russia formally announced on Thursday that it would suspend all adoptions of Russian children by Americans, responding to the case of a 7-year-old boy who was sent back to Moscow alone last week by his adoptive mother in Tennessee. The case of the boy, who was named Artyom in Russia before he was adopted last year, has caused widespread anger here, and Russian officials said new regulations had to be put in place before adoptions by Americans could proceed.

Is this for sure? The MSN article I read said that it was still unclear if this is for sure.

With an awesome Russian son this hit me especially hard when I heard it this morning. I posted his story today on our blog. There are many many successful stories that JCICS is asking for right now. I just think of all these kids...sigh. God is so much bigger than governments though (an amazing comfort).

Thank you for having such a heart for these kids!
