A Brain Never to be Detoxed

Sad article here in First Things about porn addiction.  What sets it apart from other additions is that you can't detox images in the brain.

It seems like the Gospel offers hope for any type of sin. Though consequences for sin (or sinful patterns) can have long lasting impacts, we are still being tranformed by the renewing of our minds and learning and growing in living (walking) by the Spirit and not according to the flesh (or sinful inclinations)- and there will be a day when remaining sin will be no more.
It seems like those of us that were engaging in premarital sex [prior to conversion](where it is not just an image but a reality) would have a similar struggle. God uses our sin and sinful patterns to magnify His grace and forgiveness in Christ and to show us our need for the Savior.
So if we stop and conclude that the brain is never to be detoxed - where is hope? As Christians we can offer hope (in Christ)for those with any type of sin or sinful pattern. Our hope is in the sufficiency of Christ. Will any of us be fully free from the affects of remaining sin or free from sinning this side of eternity - no. But there will be a day when we will be. We have an answer (in Christ) for the hopelessness that the philosophies of this world offer.
