Worship Matters

Joe Thorn:
The July issue of Tabletalk zeroes in on worship and includes two articles that can help you think through the regulative principle of worship (RPW). Derek Thomas argues in favor of the RPW, while RJ Gore Jr. contends that RPW is more “narrow than the biblical data requires – or allows” and points out that many who affirm it disagree when it comes to its application. Both men agree that the worship of the church should be “reformed according to the Scriptures.”

Unfortunately not only is the Regulative Principle generally dismissed by many Evangelicals, so is seriously thinking through a practical theology of worship in general. Most will do well to pick up the July issue of Tabletalk and give it a read.
