Try a New Approach to Bible Reading in 2011

Bob Kauflin writes about a new approach that kind of sounds like the P90x plan of Bible reading.  I think I might give it a shot.  Maybe you will too.  Check it out.

Z,
I have been doing this for about two years now and it is not for the faint of heart. I have learned a ton, and even with it's drawbacks, it is still my favorite method.

sounds like a study worth trying. i wonder if i could figure out a way to do it in part but not in whole -- so that i can continue using other methods as well.

as long as you're highlighting bible study methods, this one has really blessed me:

3-column bible study

i think the reason it's blessed me so is that the emphasis is taken off of gaining knowledge and put on being obedient to God's words. i feel like we sometimes study the bible to death -- but in the end don't look any more like Jesus than when we started. this method has helped me with that.

here's an example of this type of study, straight from my bible study notebook:

an actual 3-column study from 1 john 3

One thing I've changed to the plan is to break up the bigger sections in half again. Gives me just a couple more chapters a day to read, but I'm getting through in twice the time. I've only been following the plan for a few months and LOVE it.
