To be fair, I ran into this problem while in leadership positions in college. I tinkered with the ratio of sizes until I was ordering 90% mediums...and still running out. When asked, "What size", the instinctive response is "medium". Someone asking for a different size will actually take longer to answer: "...got a large?"

Unless it is womens clothes in which case there will be hundreds of the smaller size items and barely any larger ones

I always get there by the time the 2 mediums are sold out!
