Compassion for the Pro Athlete?

Guest post by Joe Crispin

The Philadelphia Daily News writer, David Murphy offers his perspective regarding a recent controversial quote by the wife of Phillies' pitcher, Ryan Madson. She certainly wasn't wise to say what she said (particularly in Philadelphia or anywhere in a public forum for that matter), but Murphy's point is certainly more than valid. Sadly, few folks really consider all that goes into being a professional athlete nowadays. Fewer still consider their wives and/or children.

It never hurts to exercise compassion, no matter how well you think someone has it.
