How the iPad Is Really Eating the PC

Interesting article here on how and why the iPad is converting many over to Apple computers from the PC world.

You should link to an article about how Android is eating up the iPhone.

Sadly, I mostly agree with the article. And you know, I'd probably use mac products across the board if it weren't for one problem...

THEY ARE WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!

If Steve Jobs really wants to rule the world, he will cut his prices by about 30%-50% (I guarantee the profit margins would still be MORE than adequate). As soon as he does that, the PC market will breathe it's last. This is the one thing that has kept me buying Dells instead. I can get two Dells for the price of one mac. The mac will last me about 4-5 years. The Dell will probably last me the same, but the advantage being that after 2-3 years, I can upgrade if I desire which is a HUGE bonus with the speed at which technology moves these days. And if I don't upgrade, I have saved myself $600.

The price is the only thing keeping PCs alive. Most people don't care about open code (except the super-nerds). 95% market share would be attainable if the vast majority of computer owners could afford macs. Right now, though, Steve Jobs is more concerned about being a status symbol and lining his own pocket book (which doesn't need anymore lining) then he is about providing computers to the masses. And that is the REAL problem with Apple as a company.
