Christians, and Christian societies, honour dead bodies, because Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, had one.
We do not abuse the dead.
We do not kick corpses.
Traditional Christians do not encourage cremation.
President Obama made the right call to take out bin Laden, the right call to end torture of prisoners, and was right not to release the bin Laden photograph.
No person who doubts bin Laden’s death will be convinced by a photograph released by the American government. Photos are easily doctored and if both American political parties are lying about the DNA evidence, they will lie about a picture.
Terrorists forced Americans to see evil on 9/11, but our government will not return the favour by showing us the dead body of our foe. We are better than the terrorists. We are civilised.
bin Laden is dead. Nothing is to be gained by flaunting his remains. Justice does not demand revenge, gloating, or cruelty to the bin Laden family. Their evil son, father, and husband has received justice. Let it end at that.

Three Things Obama Got Right

I think the radical Muslim groups that have been among those saying, "Why don't you show a picture to prove he's dead" were trying to set a trap. For if BHO did release a picture, those same people would have been all upset that our government had shown a picture of a guy who was not just dead, but violently so with major bullet wounds to the head.
I think some who have doubted reports of OBL's death have done so a) for attention after the Birther issue got put to rest and b) more understandably because Obama has policies like Carter and trouble with the truth like Clinton. The administration is having a hard time keeping up with its own mis- and partial-statements, and this is leading people to say there are big holes in the story.
Thing is, now is not the time politically to make this story up. That would be either closer to Sept 11, or next year in the heat of campaigning. Obama's narcissism is getting a boost from this, but I still believe it happened.
i am a Pastor and I intend to be cremated. God will have no difficulty finding all the atoms necessarey to make a new body for me. I consider a traditional funeral and a casket to be a waste or God's rescources.
I've been thinking about this, and it seems to me that the hoopla over the bidy and pictures is a bit over the top.
My first thought when I heard he was buried at sea was: "Well, I guess that's ok. I don't have a better idea." But after further consideration I think it would have been better to do the deed (take him out), bury the body at sea with as much top secret documentation as "necessary." and let it go at that. Not to cover it up, or to deny anything, but to just let it be. If people ask questions, acknowlegde that the elimination of OBL is one of the US government's objectives, but make no further claims. Let his absence (and the corresponding lack of influence speak for itself, and try to take the best advantage possible of the info they gained about the terrorist's plans before the more widespread knowledge of his death was acknoledged.
That's just my two cents. Probably not realistic given the 24 hour news cycle and political agendas these days, but it seems reasonable to me. Maybe even prudent.
