“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).
God’s provision is not stingy. Notice the repetition of superlatives in this single verse:
- ALL grace
- ALL sufficiency
- ALL things
- ALL times
- EVERY good work
God has held nothing back from His children in Christ. Ultimately, this is most clearly demonstrated in Jesus. For when God came to earth, He didn’t do so half-heartedly. Or half-bodiedly for that matter. He EMPTIED Himself. He bore ALL our sin. He is familiar with EVERY temptation and ALL kinds of suffering. He gave all that we might have all. He held nothing back so that we might be in want for nothing.
Interestingly, though, the motivation for Paul’s reflection in this verse is generosity. He’s urging his audience, in the verses before, to be those who sow generously – to give with a cheerful heart. Our motivation in doing so is not that we’re supposed to or that it’s the right thing to do, but rather to understand just how rich we are in Christ. And how poor Christ became in order that we might be rich.
No, the provision of God is not stingy.

God's Provision is Not Stingy
