Vitamin Z - true enough. But the difference is that whereas Moses and Paul repented, Mr. Lewis, for the record has not. Sometimes, just because someone mouths the "right words" and draws near with their lips, their hearts are far from me, saith the Lord. Isaiah 29:13 - and it is this embrace by Christians (who are expected to the most discerning because we have the mind of Christ) of someone like Mr. Lewis that gives credence to the charge that they can be the most gullible and naive’ and at times incredibly stupid people this side of Heaven. He's very good at what he does on the football field - but that shouldn’t give him a pass (pun intended) when it comes to getting the endorsement of the faithful. We need to be wiser than this regardless of the "words" he uses.
How do you have such intimate knowledge of Ray and his repentance or lack there of? Would you be satisfied with nothing less than a press conference? Maybe you have knowledge about him that most of us don't? What am I missing here? Do you know for sure that he is not a Christian?
Vitamin Z, Your attempt using a postmodern epistemological approach to evidence is amazing. I do not need "intimate knowledge" of an event (say the Resurrection of Jesus Christ for instance)to know that something is true or not beyond a reasonable doubt. The very silence and lack of any public act of contrition on Mr. Lewis' part is as admissible in a court of law (its called circumstantial evidence) to find a defendant guilty; or innocent. Additionally, he did plea down (admitting to being involved that day) in order to turn states evidence against his friends to save his own behind from going to prison. Do all the searching you want - you will not find any admission of guilt or even an apology to the victims and their families anywhere for the part he played in their deaths. And to just play devil’s advocate here - I can just as easily turn your question(s) around and ask you "Do you know for sure he IS” a Christian?" How? By just the words you heard him say on the video? What intimate knowledge do YOU have that others don’t to conclude he is saved – that there is enough proof for you to conclude that he is in fact a "Christian?" - just because he's good on the football field - that in some sort of way validates his credibility with you that he is a “Christian?” Maybe you have some access to information about him that I don’t? Once again, the evidence is in my favor here (unless you can prove otherwise.) And to come to his defense as strongly as you have here just lends strength to my assertion that some Christians are very gullible indeed when they seem to set aside most of their God given powers of spiritual discernment in order to be tolerant and to be seen as being non-“judgmental” in situations such as these.
Paul, All of life, even a football game is under the purview of the Almighty. And as such, our approach to that life that He has so graciously given us, should be as well. Go Giants!

I didn't know it, but I think I needed that.
This is admirable coming from a guy who was initially charged for murder but made a plea deal based on lesser charges back in 2000? I don't think so.

I'm glad God didn't have this attitude toward Moses and Paul. Grace can cover murderers like you and me. Matt 5.
I want to play on his team

The theology is to be applauded but....
GOOD GRIEF! IT'S A FOOTBALL GAME, man!!
BTW - Despite our disagreement on this issue, I thoroughly enjoy your blog and the things you post here. Keep it up!
