I have always believed that leaders must be learners. I have observed that all high capacity leaders I meet or read about are voracious readers.
Many young men and women who are up and coming leaders say they don’t like to read. I have wondered if there is a way around the discipline of learning by committing time to reading, and to be honest, I don’t think there is.
I think leading people to be readers is an important part of teaching them to be learners. Like learning, reading isn’t always easy, and it isn’t always compelling. (Candidly, neither is leading)
In this video Mark Dever talks about ways he has built reading into the culture of churches he leads.
