"Running Up The Score" Gets Redefined

I am all about competitiveness just as much as the next guy, but this is a bit over the top.

Yeah, that is a tough story. But there are some facts that have not been reported:

1. These girls were not physically handicapped.

2. They had lost previous games by more than 40 points, scoring single points per game (e.g. 4 and 7).

I think the coach was lame for having them shoot for 100. But I don't think they should have quit trying. If anything, they need to rehaul the basketball program at the school that hasn't one a basketball game in 4 years.

The Dallas Academy girls were not physically handicapped, but basketball, or any sport, is not merely a physical game. The Covenant Academy coach had to know going in that their opponent was the underdog. I just wish he would've had the same attitude as the coach of Grapevine Faith's football team when they played Gainesville State (http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?section=magazine&id=3789373) last fall.
